Welcome!
The Cartographers’ Guild is a forum created by and for map makers and aficionados, a place where every aspect of cartography can be admired, examined, learned, and discussed. Our membership consists of professional designers and artists, hobbyists, and amateurs—all are welcome to join and participate in the quest for cartographic skill and knowledge.
Although we specialize in maps of fictional realms, as commonly used in both novels and games (both tabletop and role-playing), many Guild members are also proficient in historical and contemporary maps. Likewise, we specialize in computer-assisted cartography (such as with GIMP, Adobe apps, Campaign Cartographer, Dundjinni, etc.), although many members here also have interest in maps drafted by hand.

Merelan City - the city that took 4 months to build.
Such a beautiful piece, Mouse - wow! I love the textures you created, your details, layout, shadowing, and fonts. Would SO love to be tutored by you in how to use GIMP, lol. Cheers my friend!
Thank you Chris But here's the surprise. This is done entirely in CC3+, not GIMP. I have only recently tampered with GIMP, and that is only because I wish to draw my own mountains for a change Having said that, however, one of my other finished maps (Gymnopus P) was also done entirely in CC3+
Sue, I love this! Fantastic. Just love it.
Thank you, AJ
This may be my favorite. I love the way you created the illusion of changing elevation on a top-down map so convincingly—not to mention the beautiful job you do on the water.
Thank you, Jay It was and still is the most ambitious project I ever undertook. 4 months to complete. Would have been just 2, but I had a slight problem with losing 3/4 of my symbol collection at the 11th hour the first time it was nearly finished. I nearly gave up, but I figured that I could draw these things myself and I started replacing all that was lost to me with my own stuff. Thanks also to -Jo-, who very kindly shared his lovely little sailing boats with me. The completion of this particular map is what started me down the road to making symbols and fills for other people through Profantasy, so you could say that something good did actually come out of that particular disaster other than just the map itself
