Welcome!
The Cartographers’ Guild is a forum created by and for map makers and aficionados, a place where every aspect of cartography can be admired, examined, learned, and discussed. Our membership consists of professional designers and artists, hobbyists, and amateurs—all are welcome to join and participate in the quest for cartographic skill and knowledge.
Although we specialize in maps of fictional realms, as commonly used in both novels and games (both tabletop and role-playing), many Guild members are also proficient in historical and contemporary maps. Likewise, we specialize in computer-assisted cartography (such as with GIMP, Adobe apps, Campaign Cartographer, Dundjinni, etc.), although many members here also have interest in maps drafted by hand.

This is just me playing around. Cheers, -Arsheesh
Damn, nice color it has. And i love the texture used. I'm waiting for more details, if you add any later.
Hey thanks Grangarian. This was a map I made for fun (based on a map I made for a tutorial) and didn't really have any plans on finishing it. But I appreciate your feedback. Cheers, -Arsheesh
I absolutely love it! Where exactly do I find the tutorial? srry im a noob
Hi Vince, thanks for the comment. Here is a link to the tutorial. Two caveats though, first, the tutorial presupposes a general a general understanding of GIMP & of fantasy map making. If you are new you might want to try getting your hands dirty with say RobA's tutorial which is more for beginners, before moving on to my tutorial. Second, my tutorial results in a color image, as opposed to the more antique style of this map. However, A2area has a tutorial that shows how to convert the color map into a more antique styled map. Hope that helps. Cheers, -Arsheesh
Your awesome! thanks so much
So cool! This is the type of map I'm aiming to create. Thanks for posting links to the tutorials! -Kate-
My pleasure, thanks for the feedback Kate!
I realize that I'm posting on a years old thread, but I was wondering about getting permission to use this map. I just registered to ask this question, so I can't PM you (yet). Thanks in advance.
Hi Eversor, yes I licensed this map via Creative Commons as a map that can be used freely for both private and commercial purposes. The only stipulations are that (a) map is not simply sold "as is" (it can be used as part of a larger commercial project, like for instance as a map for the setting of a novel or RPG), and that I, Tad Davis, be attributed as the artist of this piece anywhere the map is to be published. Hope that answers your question. Cheers.
Thank you so much the response. And for the map!
