    Map Hunting Prince Dracula map

I was hired to do the map for a young adult novel coming out in a few weeks. Hunting Prince Dracula. This was a fun and challenging map to do, since I had 1 page to do both a map of the area, and map showing the locations of events in the Castle.

They had suggested doing the castle as floor plans, but since there's 4 floors to Castle Bran, that wouldn't really work on one page. So I suggested a 3D drawing of the castle, with locations marked out, and the map of the area in the background.

The author loves it. I was happy because I got a chance to do something different. While I love drawing mountains, and sometimes endless forests, it's always nice to break things up.

Oh yeah, that is an amazing map, I feel like it fits the context perfectly. Actually I'm really inspired by the composition, with a detailed location in the foreground and then a small-scale area map in the background. If only I didn't have four-plus other maps underway...

But thanks for sharing it, and the inspiration. Well done!

Very beautiful castle! And congratulations! The transition between the castle and the map is really very well done!

Castle Bran!, looks awesome. Nice job. I was trying to draw Bran last year, but i could not wrap my head around how to start drawing a castle.
    This one is really cool.

TimPaul that is a very well crafted blend of isometric, x-ray (tunnels), area/regional map, and heraldry. I think as far as recipes for an awe inspiring picture go you've pretty much nailed it for me. Well done.

WOW. Thanks everyone. I really appreciate all the comments.

It was very tricky. Especially trying to get the tunnels, without them looking like trenches. There was a lot of other elements the author suggested, but thankfully the author and the editors would take my advice about removing some elements, so that it wasn't as cluttered or messy.

The others have already said it, but this is amazing! It's wonderful how you managed to blend the regional map and the castle view together. Great work!
