"Comic artist recreates ancient Rome"

The following is a link to news story about French comic book artist Gilles Chaillet who drew by hand a ginormous map of ancient Rome. As the article states, "When Chaillet finally sat down to sketch the 11- by 6½-foot map, he spent 5,000 hours at the drawing board. His wife spent 3,000 more hours coloring it in."

I really appreciate how this stuff ends up in, "News of the Weird." If your obsessive about watching big sweaty men playing sports while swigging bad American beer and feeling your own butt expand on the La-Z-Boy, that's normal. Doing something creative with your time, "Wow, what a freak!" Maybe, I'm just a little bitter. Cool news item, though, thanks.

Yea, Colin--that "weird" caught my eye too, and I snorted in disdain at msnbc. I think the current American political scene, for example, is waaaaaay weirder than a man's lifelong passion for art, cartography, and history, but for some reason msnbc finds that "normal." Go figure.
