Default November/December 2011 Lite Challenge Entry: Lakeshire

I decided to create a rather simple map, with just plain paper, some pencils, and some colored pencils. I'm no artist, and so this is by no means a true work of art, but, it looks satisfying enough for me. My scanner brought out the strokes of the colored pencils more than I'd like, so some of the coloring doesn't look as smooth as it really is. But, I think (and I hope you do too) it still looks decent. So without further rambling, here it is:

If you want to smooth your colouring even more, there is a nifty trick with colour pencils - shade twice, but slant the second shading pass by approximately 20-30 degrees, so one set of strokes is like this: llllll and another like this: ////////

When you mix them together, they break up the strokes for the eye, making it look smoother.

Well I tried re-shading it but it didn't really make much of a positive difference after scanning it, so I guess I will be sticking with my first post.

Oh. Shame. Well, it does depend on the pencils used as well, and the paper (cf. my colour trial, which also didn't come out too hot).
