    Wip Attempt 1

    Hi Guild,

Butterflies in the belly as I write this.

This is my first attempt at a tutorial. I'm aware I have way too many rivers. I got a bit carried away after I accidentally deleted one map without saving. The joys.

Anyhow, next step, how to make this coloured and where are my mountains

Thank you Jezelf for the tutorial.

Finished the second one today, since it's the same sort of thing, I'm going to leave it here. Now to get started with the third part.

Nice. I see you already have the rivers in.
This black and white is normally a place I start to get landmasses right. It is the easiest to edit.
You can always keep the black as a single layer and then select it to thro a color in. But that can come when feel comfortable to try color. In fact, quite a few great maps stayed as black and white, though then land is normally the lighter side.
Good luck with this. I don't think I 've run through that specific tutorial.

    Have a nice day,

The second map has been updated. I didn't finish the whole tutorial because the next part was about writing down the names etc. There is an area on the map that calls out to me to build a city...so onwards to the next tutorial.

    This is good progress.
The land has a very nice border to it.

One thing though, that light stain layer is a bit distracting. Maybe lower the opacity of it down.

Thank you Yes that layer is annoying, I'll lower the opacity now.

Ah! That is much better. Well done. Mapmaking for me is something of experimenting with loads of things that work, that is different, and some things that doesn't work as good. It is often a journey of finding and keeping the things that worked(Though still trying new styles from time to time).

This is already a good base to build on. What is your next goal for it?

(Just a note, that area almost to the top in the middle, the coastline is dead straight for quite a distance without any sort of bump, straight lines in nature is not that common. Just something to consider.)

You are doing good, keep at it.
