Thread: The Lands of Halloween

  1. #1

    Default The Lands of Halloween

I do hope you'll forgive me for being impolite. I don't like what I'm doing : being absent from the Guild for weeks, and suddenly come back with something to show. But if it's not today, it won't be until next year ^^

    So.
It started as a normal day.
For some reason, I woke up this morning with an idea about a map of Australia. A lovely little concept. Coat of arms, nice parchment effects, a few colors, maybe a kangaroo somewhere. I started working on my current commission, but the Australia map idea started to mutate. It became something weird about a coat of arms for a zebra. Then it started to become something more Medieval. Which made me think about my small Polar map from last year. 'loved the calligraphy and I talked about it yesterday with someone. And suddenly... I was sketching something in my sketchbook, and things became out of control. For start I planned a map in the background, but the coat of arms... the coat of arms... and the letters, and... nah, out of control, that's it.

Anyway... wish you a happy Halloween everyone !

And now... My rep finger knows there's a ton of new maps I'll love from you all, and I can't wait to discover them as soon as I'll be able to find a few hours on the forum.

(And for those who are interested : the not-really-a-map-of-the-Lands-of-Halloween is available on my InPrnt here !)

Hehe, I know what you mean. It's a busy time of year.
I'm managing to stick some random maps in, here and there.
I like this one. Just in time for Halloween.

edit - apparently I have to spread rep

Beautiful, as is always the case with your work. I like everything about this, especially the different fonts you've put in.

That's lovely Mistybeee, the colors and composition are wonderful. I hope this does well for you commercially. I know what you mean: I too have been very sporadic in my participation on the forums here. As J mentioned, it's a busy time of year. Look forward to seeing you here a bit more in the future though as your schedule allows.

    Cheers,

A busy time of the year started for me in June and I don't have any hope it will end until... probably next June ?
I'm so terribly sorry I had to skip the challenge you ran !
Anyway, I'm glad to see your "some random maps here and there" : every single one is a jewel ^^

Hehe, glad you love them, Kell' ! It started on a normal parchment and I added the black background accidentally, but how to resist ?

Thanks so much for the kind words, UGE ! I do enjoy playing with fonts : they're such an important part of any kind of 'map' ^^

Perfectly understandable. We have a laid back 2 month challenge for the end of the year that you can squish in, maybe. ;P
It's just a fun end of the year sort of thing.
