    Map Sunken Pyramid

    Hi

This was my September challenge map.

I wanted to do a pyramid map and started the linework for it, but somewhere along the line as I prepared to enter the challenge, the idea of having the pyramid submerged popped up and so it started. Couple that with my recent inroads in doing jungle maps with a somewhat Mayan theme all for the purposes of RPGs, it came together in unexpected ways.

The shading of the pit the map was quite complicated, but it does what it needs to. I was especially happy with how the water took shape and look forward to exploring that part in future maps.
Also, there was the dial, which brought forward the idea of the creators of the Sunken Pyramid wishing to hide the secrets therein and thus they built this elaborate system of fountains and water drainage to manage it all. The dial itself is mysterious in its many different configurations. Whoever happens to finds this place would need to find out what different settings would mean to unlock the secrets of the pyramid.

Hope you enjoy the map. I would love to hear your comments.

(I scaled it down a bit, the original is quite big.)

    EDIT_2020:
    The snow version added.

Hi XCali, where have you been? You missed the volcano challenge, I was waiting for one of your maps. This jungle style would have been a perfect setting to go with some lava.

I like your new album of maps, but they need their own thread with descriptions, comments and such. Go post one!

    Hey,

I did check out the challenge, and I was tempted for moment. Though, I thought against it. But, thinking about it now, I do have a cool idea for what I would have tried maybe. Like a structure with lava flowing through it.

As for the album. Well, I wanted to ask feedback from specific people on how they would play. For now I want it to be on the side. You are welcome to leave comments there if you like one or another.

    Default Iced Over

A bit of a different take on the map. It became cold and the water froze over. But that mysterious dial has a few extra tricks up its sleeve for those who discover its secrets.

I'd like to say it's Cool, but that would be redundant. Great map!

    Tx Bogie.

Though, I do have to ask in what context you are using the wording of redundant, I'm still trying to figure it out. Is the map redundant or is saying it's, cool is redundant? Sorry if I'm a bit confused.
While I have you, can I ask a question regarding playing a session on this map. What would you like to see added?

Amazing colour scheme. The patterns on the snow/ice in the winter one are maybe a tad low res to my eye, but the original version is by far my favourite anyway. Love how the water came out in that!

    Thanx a bunch!

And yeah I am totally with you on the snow on some places being too low res. Some of the brushes I used is too blurry. I might have to address that.
