Mhh...i think it looks better without the bases. It depends on the "flavor" you want. With bases it looks like a boardgame map, kind of. "Here we have your part of the lands, this is yours over there...now let us play" etc. .
Without it looks more like a war map to me, if that makes sense. Without bases it kind of looks like "we planted our flag into the earth to make it clear: this territory is OURS.." ^^
As always, probably very much a matter of taste. But those are my 2 cents on the topic. And yeah, i know, waaay to wordy...i'm sorry ^^

Ok...That is awesome. Way better than the base. The Banner's border reminds me of St. George slaying the Dragon, good stuff!
Quelle belle carte !
J’en profite surtout pour te souhaiter de très belle fêtes de fin d’annee !
Thanks Galendae ! St George slaying the Dragon was indeed my inspiration, the Gregonian Empire claiming to have hunted down the last dragons of the continent (or this part of the continent, at least).By Galendae

And the standard bearers are more or less done. I also increased the mountains shading, thanks to an advice on twitter.
Haha...thanks, Ilanthar. I'm glad you do
As for the new banner holders...very cool. Looking really nice. To be honest, though, it detracts a bit from the map. At least for me. On the other hand, it kind of gives flavor to the kind of cultures you have...which is very nice. So I'm torn ^^
