    Thanks Lingon!

Oh yes! Silly me! I was going to add the letters for the different directions, and maybe arrows (not the kind that you shoot) but arrows (that you shoot) is an even better idea.

The paint also reminded I wanted to put some paint design on it, but a painted compass rose is an even better idea

Thank you so much for the suggestions!! I shall try to apply them.

Seconding adding the test compass rose to the shield. Looking good!

I agree with Lingon, what you have looks great but it needs something to make it look more like a compass. Adding arrows, spear points, plus Letters or Runes to at least indicate North if not S E W as well, will really make it stand out.

This is looking good Josiah! I agree with the others, you could make it a little more compass-ish.

Looking really good. Can't wait to see it finished.

Maybe the S for south could be a small engraving on the pommel or instead of the cross detail above the hilt. Doesn't have to be very prominent especially if the N is the primary.

Or that might just be a stupid idea on my part.

Thanks so much everyone!!! It's very helpful.

How would you go about embossing it onto the shield? I may end up actually tracing it on the shield but I'll see how it goes.

That's a great idea, I will try that and see how it looks. Thanks!

So I've used some of the suggestions to try and make it look more like compass rose, I think it's looking a bit more like one.. So now I want a bit of feedback. Is it a bit too cluttered? Does the compass rose on the shield look good? Any better ideas of how I could have done the compass rose? Any other suggestions? Thanks!

Savage Orc, I decided that it would be too subtle to put the 'S' as an engraving, but it really was a good idea.

Absolutely gorgeous Josiah! It is a beautiful creation indeed, and regardless of how well it does in the challenge, I'm sure people would be proud to have it sitting gloriously in the corner of their maps!
