i love the idea, and the sketch
Mar/April '20 Lite Challenge: Roundabout Island (withdrawn)
I wanted to try something rather unexpected, but I guess now it doesn't even look like a "map". But since I'm in a deep creative trough and panic mode I thought I'd at least give it a go and make this sketch to show what came to my mind when I read the current challenge subject. I don't know if I'll even finish it.
I thought about adding a battlemap grid, but in a game I'd expect dangerous cars moving around the island and I guess I'd need a rather atypical grid shape to make it work (never created a battlemap anyway).
And then I couldn't really decide on a style. I thought about faking a colored pencil sketch done by a child, but didn't want to make it look too happy. Still thinking.

Cool! I did not say it had to be an island surrounded by water so you are OK.

Love to see where you go with this. May I suggest making the island a little bigger with more detail? It's like the most dangerous adventure playground ever for kids lol.
I forgot to add, I really like the brushstrokes and sketchy style.

I was thinking about showing more of the surrounding (more houses, more grey) and changing the composition to make it less boring-centric. But right know it all depends on my energy to draw at all. Just thinking and writing down ideas is so much easier.
So I can't promise to go anywhere at all with this, but we'll see.

LOL!! Great idea, Yrda! Way to flip the challenge on its head! I do hope you continue with it and add some detail, like has been suggested.
After adding those, I would totally add a compass rose, legend, map scale, etc. Everything you'd expect in a SERIOUS map.
