Really nice work on those mountains. I envy you guys that have the skill and patience to do 'em like that.

Everyone's maps are turning out very nice. It will be great to see them all together.
I am still plugging away, plenty of mountains still to draw. Got some hills in and some borders for the couple leading tribes. Might look to break it up more since it is such a huge place. Added a few other features, but still a lot to do. The Hold text still needs to be distressed like I did with the others, but it's almost time to go to work and I wanted to post an update.
Any and all comments welcome.

yeah, I'm not the greatest with fonts. I didn't have one I liked in PS Elements so I picked a thicker one that I distressed (the Three Brothers, Proving Grounds, and the Guild Map text at the bottom left). I didn't distress the hold text yet. But I can always replace it with something else.
Thanks for your comments.
Savage beautiful shading on your mountains, nice job, nice scale to it. Your using a very high contrast font (thicks to thins), try a Garamond which is an older style, or other less contrasting thick to thins. Keep a serif font not a sans serif (modern feel typically), then there are some good antique fonts out there, free, just google antique fonts and you'll get some variety.
Thanks. I've never downloaded any fonts before. Will have to take a look. Thank you for your suggestions and comments.
Now off to work!
Didn't have much time this morning but tried a new font and did a little on my mountains and a few forests. I also added a different texture to the background and it shifted the colors a little bit, but I kind of like it. I was thinking my map was a little on the dark side.
Let me know what you think of the forests and font or anything else I can work on to make this a better map.

Really nice coming together nicely, like the scale.
Thanks. And thanks for snodsy for his advice on the font being too contrasty (thick to thin). I ended up switching to minion pro, I think it was, and then using OldGuy's tutorial "creating realistic coastlines" to roughen it up a bit. It is the savage lands after all.
