You know, thomrey, I got the exact same translation as you gave above out of my translation software - except for the last phrase, which came out more literally as one lonely word: "Hat!", and nothing else, which had me trying to maintain control of the coffee I'd just slurped from my cup. I realised what you meant, of course, but really - someone needs to do a bit more contextual work on the online translator software, me thinks

All in all, I think I will stick to English myself, for I now have undeniable proof that whatever I translate into French using the very same software might just cause you to splutter your drink all over your keyboard, and I take my hat off to you for conversing so fluently in both

    Jo

Here's to wishing you luck in beating the deadline, buddy

Thanks you all for your support ! Much welcome... (surtout en Français ! )

I think I'm almost over with the colour now... just a few boats.
Tomorrow for the labels... and I want to try something for the shadows (hatching in the style of the old engravings...) If I have the time...

    We'll see...

    In the meantime, here's the

Amazing detail! So much better than what I could have done. This blows my feeble efforts right out of the water. Well done!

I'm not sure about the ending hour of this challenge...

If it's tonight, then... I'm finished...

If it's tomorrow, I'll add some details in the morning...

    Anyway, here's the

Don't hold me to this one, Jo, but I seem to remember seeing Diamond saying somewhere around the place that everyone would get an extra day because of the global shin-dig that's about to go down tonight?

Its a beautiful map anyway, even if in your mind it could do with more

Happy New Year to you too

I'm struggling to open it From time to time the attachments take an age to download despite me having a 50+ MBi/s connection. Although I am using wifi to connect to the router next door. I really ought to get a cable!

But what I will say now is I have loved this map from the beginning, it has been a delight to watch it develop and seeing all the different stages. The human kebabs fleeing from the bridge's barbicans, the trees being toppled to make the siege engines and palisades, the very thought of the look on the face of the unfortunate who happened to be on the latrine when a rather pointy helmet introduced itself to his wrong end!

Thanks JO, it's been a treat

Looks really nice JO. I love all the little figures.
    Attachment opened fine for me.
