    Default 13 - District 13 [Kacey]

Pretty rough start so far, it turns out I don't even know how wide my living room is in feet so I'm just trying to get a sense of scale.

I've attached a section of J's map to the side of mine to match up roads, and try to get an idea of how big the buildings should be.

Things will surely change once I get to grips on the size of things. I've never done a city before so this should be a good challenge for me.

Ah Kacey! I crashed out again before I saw this earlier!

Borrowing your neighbour's map to match up seems like a cool idea. I must ask mine if they mind

And don't worry - getting the buildings the right size is something that I will find hardest as well, even though I've built an entire city of my own before now. I had several false starts, and a lot of that was down to getting the scale sorted out for the buildings right at the outset.

    Looking good so far

Thanks Mouse, I may have several false starts too, I'll see how every one else maps are shaping up for scale before I lay down any solid lines.

I saw that someone else is doing a library so that big building will probably be the university, tho things might change, and the building up on that big hill is the observatory.

I'll probably have to change things as people get farther ahead as I see a few spots where people are doing things already that I was going to do, and I wouldn't want to repeat too many key locations on the big map.

Will be hard tho because I'm having a tough time keeping up with all the threads...I just hope my building sizes will be ok.

Hey! There's no reason why a city of learning and wisdom shouldn't have several universities. Look at Oxford in the UK. Its not really more than a big town, but it has no less than 38 'colleges' (known anywhere else as universities )

The same is sometimes true of libraries - though not in quite such profusion. Before the internet there were several small specialist libraries in my own home town, which only has a population of 53,000.

Don't be put off including whatever you want to include. Its your plot, and you have just as much right to do a thing as anyone else

Quick update... Added some names of things I'm going to include, they are just place holders for now, I'll give them proper names once I think some up. I'm also going to do a center for astronomical research, and a top secret military defence research facility under those big hills. The people in J's secret district might wanna watch out, they'll be doing some pretty shady biomedical military research in those hills, and there in need of some guinea pig's.

I like it. Looks good so far.
I like that hex tower down at the corner.
I am working on some bits down there...
Might tie in with your monastery on the lower hill.

I should have that up in a bit.

I'll wait till you've got something in that corner to work on that section too much just so I can tie things in. I'm trusting that I can follow you're building sizes as I have no idea what I'm doing in regards to scale.

And so you know those monks are proficient in the art's of mind control, and telepathy, they work closely with the military scientists, and often recruit those who are down, and out, and homeless children to there monk hood under the guise of helping the needy, and giving a home to the homeless.

It turns out that Mouses orphans might not be so safe after all...brainwashing work's better on the young, and needy.

I have a newer sketch up on my thread.

Maybe I should do a small sample selection of some building sizes.
