Default New Cartographer: Looking to Learn

I've been working on a con-world for a bit, focusing on the civilization side of it. But now I'm coming to the point where I need a map.

I'm super picky about maps (I've seen way to may maps with a desert, mountain forest, plain, and marsh areas that were just blobs on a blob of a continent. Rivers that travel up mountains, bisect continents, or split as they travel to the ocean also irritate the crap out of me.

So I'm going to try my hand at building a map from the tectonic plates up. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks guys, I look forward to learning more. I just hope my perfectionism doesn't interfere too much with creating map...

    A fellow perfectionist

I am glad I'm not the only one with that issue. What usually helps me is telling myself that I can always come back to something and add more, but I have to make it work first so it can be used.

Looking forward to see your work!

Yeah, we'll see how things go. Perfectionism is why I'm starting with plate tectonics for a con-world that I may never actually use for a d&d campaign...
