Its been an interesting day, and I'm not altogether unhappy with this, but I know I can do a whole lot better. Not liking pink very much has a lot to do with it. There's a long way to go yet

Wow, a lot to catch up on. That's what I get for being offline for a couple days. You've been a busy little mouse!

    Hi Bogie!

I'm not the only one - I think Wired was trying to finish his in double quick time

Okay, the new perspective really makes this pop out from the rest of the entries, but I find the color scheme both fascinating and seizure-inducing in equal parts. For some reason ot reminds me of the old animated movie Les Maîtres du temps.

I don't think C.S. Lewis ever had someone visualize that for him, so double thumbs up to you, Mouse ...

    Thanks Wired

I just had to go and find that on YouTube and watch it so that I knew what you meant

I have to disagree - my colours are bright enough to strip the paint of your car!

Since I can't use masks there are some things that would be much faster and better done in GIMP first. I'll redraw it again in perspective view and open the resulting GIMP file in ArtRage to paint on the vegetation.

Its a long job - don't wait up for me!

Ok. I've had enough of brilliant pink for now. Here is the last fresh start I can afford to make. Its a GIMP background I prepared to open in ArtRage (without the text). I will attempt to paint the land features and vegetation onto the map there, and export back to GIMP for the final labelling

    Thanks Chashio

I had to do it this way. Needed masks to sort out the planetary curavature shading. It would have taken too long to do that by hand and eye alone in ArtRage. If I'd bought the full package I probably would have been able to do this all in ArtRage.

There's still a lot of painting to be done...
