Default The Hamen Peninsula - New Earth

    Hey there!

I wanted to try my hand at a period of map that I don't usually work with, and opted for a mid nineteenth century style. I wanted to see how closely I could get to printed hand-colored maps from that era, and particularly tried to disguise the fact that it was made digitally as much as possible.

The map shows the Hamen Peninsula, a place reachable from our world but not strictly-speaking a part of it.
Because I have no plans to use the piece for anything, I wanted it to be mysterious and contain details that raise questions about the history of the world it's from. If people have ideas about what that world could be like based on those details, I'd love to hear them!

I concur with JO, I think you reached your goal rather nicely. I like the serene look of the map, the rather muted colors work very well. The only thing that somewhat bugs me is how blurry the mountains are... The style itself looks great, I just think it may look a bit better if they were a tad sharper.

A great piece, have some rep!

I have to agree with what both JO and Kelleri have said, including the small criticism. Nicely done nonetheless!

Very nice, I'm also fond of 19th century maps. Those mountains do look rather like veins though, as a relief map they'd be very steep more like walls than mountains.

    Pretty nice!

The only thing that distracts me is the sea line (I guess that is what it is). I has the same colour and thickness as the land mass.
Maybe it could have a lighter colour, so the land mass would pop out more?

Overall a really good job though!
