I think it looks great. I find the kerning on the smaller text to be a little too smooshed together for easy reading, but that may just be me.

Labels is kinda the hard part on this one. I'm trying to give a hud interface feeling to the icons but the balance between a good effect and a readable text is hard to find. Mixing semi-transparent icons on a very contrasted background is also a hard part, i've tried various blending modes for icons and labels but i'm never really happy with the overhaul.

To play with lights i often get a lense flare image and blend it with the sun, if you put the lense flare exactly on the sun, you have a shinny effect. or you can darken the scene if you blend the lense flare in overlay mode.

This is going to be an Atlas Award nominee for sure. Just beautiful work, man.

Thanks Mouse, i know you like space maps so happy to share that one
A little explanation about the method i used to take the 3D sketchup file of the space station into photoshop:
basically i do multiple png export of my sketchup view with different settings (one export with only lines, another with shadows ect..) and mixed all those layers with photoshop.

By playing with how your shadows layer blend with colors and textures, you can 'control' the lights of your map.

That's really interesting to know, since I have no end of trouble trying to make my Sketchup exports look anywhere near half as good as yours!

    Thank you for the information
