I love the decorative text on the frame!

That's a top-notch map, love it. ...Except for the grid lines.

edit: maybe make the decorative glyphs on the border a bit fainter too.

Jalyha... wonder whatever happened to her?

This is great stuff Tonquani. I've been fiddling about with this technique of using contours and shading for some time and I'm really impressed with your application of it. I reckon a tutorial would be worthy of an award on its own

I agree with Diamond though, the grid lines could do with being a little less opaque.

Thanks Diamond, appreciate it! Grid and border glyphs have duly been made more transparent...

Hmm, I just may do that at some stage (if I find myself with enough spare time... )

Yep, thanks Straf, duly noted, and now changed.

I've also been playing about with textures a bit - rocky bits on the ridges, and a little bit of vegetation in the valleys. Not too sure if I like them...

Ahem...well well...we are most pleased with this work of thee ustad Tonquani! The advantage it will give us in battle is indeed worth thy weight in silver. These last additions on the ridges though might mislead our troops and should be removed instantly! May thy qalam always be sharp and thy progeny numerous and healthy

Ah hah! Most ineffable and beneficent Sultan, thine words are as a multitude of silver stars in the night sky. Thy great wisdom is manifestly to be obeyed. Therefore I shall sally forth and remove said rockfalls, notwithstanding the great labours required in order to accomplish said goal.

I trust that, by the admirable designs of the gods this shall meet with thine august approval!

The rockfalls were interesting, but the map is much cleaner looking without them.

I agree with Bogie on the rockfalls

    Nice colours, Tonquani
