    Map Tamriel

    Hi Guild !

This is the final version of my Tamriel map from the Elder Scrolls, the most recent entry on my "known universes" serie
The plan was to make something similar to my Middle Earth map, but slightly darker to fit the ambiancy of the world, of course.

    Some informations :
    - Commissionned work for HighlandLoch,
    - A2 size,
    - Created in Photoshop.
    - Drawn with a Wacom Cintiq.
    - WIP thread here.

Size:	3.32 MB

I made some modifications since the last WIP post, with adding several new illustrated towns, and editing light & colors.

    Hope you'll love it !

Fantastic work ! The sea and the trees must have been a real ordeal !
And the result is fabulous : it sent me back to Oblivion and Skyrim instantly !
The commissioner must be really happy !

A beautiful job, Mysty, with a ton of wonderful details.
Your map makes me nostalgic for Daggerfall

This is breathtaking, Misty - I am especially envious of your ability to make a map on such a large and epic scale, while still giving flavour at the small local level...

Unsurprisingly I can't rep you now, but it's there in spirit.

You are an inspiration to us all.
Thank you so much for showing this to us. Just wow.

I reeeeeeeeally admire how natural you get the highlighting and shadows to look. It makes me scratch my head to how you accomplish it.

Anyway, this is truly a masterwork in cartography. Well done.

(Question: Which Wacom Cintiq exactly did you use?)

Thanks, evil Jo, for the comment and the rep !!
As far as I remember, I spend at least 3 days on the trees : contour line work, fill the forests, color layer, shading layer, light layer... Not the most thrilling part of the job, but it was one of those occasions to listen a good audiobook (in this specific case : Royal Assassin by Robin Hobb) ^^.
The sea pattern was a complicated one and I drew several versions of it before I was happy with the result. As far as I can tell, making patterns never turns as you imagined first and always need more time than what you expected. In fact, I believe it's one of the rules of the Universe
The commissionner is happy, I think, since I should start a new project with him in the next weeks

Thanks Narc ! I must say one of the more difficult part of this map was to resist to the urge to play Oblivion or Skyrim...! ^^'

Hehe, thanks Wingshaw !! Spirit matters too
What is fun (or not fun, depending on how you consider this) is I'm usually specialized in very small maps and tiny details, but I don't know why I'm constantly asked to do biggest and biggest projects those last months (the next one I'm about to start will be 22x28''). However, I can't do anything but drawing tiny details ^^'

    That's a lovely compliment, Cali, thanks a lot !
When I wrote the post this morning, I asked to myself if I should add the detail of my Cintiq adventure or not, and imagined it would have no interest, so your asking made me laugh ^^
I started the map with a Cintiq 16 pro, but it betrayed me in the middle of the project with a huge dead pixel cloud (imagine a million of blue, red and green dead pixels in the middle of your screen) and I was forced to send it to repair. So the second part of the map was drawn with my old Cintiq 13hd (so glad I didn't sold it when I bought the 16 one !).
Edit : 'just saw the rep : thank you so much ! ^^

    Seriously, Beee So gorgeous.
    I love your location illustrations.
And those boats - i've just been doing boats for a comm set, so can really appreciate just how good those are.
People, and trees, and everything really. Just splendid.
And that little cloud of steam down where the lava hits the coastal water Wonderful attention to detail.
    You do not disappoint.

Edit - drats... must spread rep. I will be back.
Apparently I just repped you recently.

I think boats are among my favorite things to draw... creatures are still stressful though ^^'
