Thread: Looking for maps for smaller sailing ships

Help Looking for maps for smaller sailing ships

I'm looking for maps of smaller sailing ships from the Golden Age of Piracy. I'm looking for ones that include all the decks, not just the top one, preferably in full colour. So far my searches have found tons of maps for larger 3-masted ships, a handful of medium-sized 2-masted ships, and only a couple small single-masted ships that proved to be unusable due to design flaws. Even just something like a simple single-masted sloop is proving to be impossible to find. Does anyone happen to have, or know where I can find, such maps?

Most single masted ships in the past were harder to run. The wrong size sail and over you may go. But! If you are looking for ship designs - try going to some place that sells ships. If you can get some of their flyers you can scan them in and then modify them. You may also be able to go online and Google ship makers and find designs in that way. Just an idea.

Ok. just did a quick Google myself. Here are two sites you may want to go look at:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KAgW13zs7I

This site lists all of the different ships that were around. Follow the links and you can find hull restorations, what the ships carried, and all manner of other things.

This site also has a lot of information about old shailing ships. Just like the first one, it too has some layouts for how the ships were put together.

This is only two out of thousands of sites with schematics, layouts, design thoughts, and more. :-)
