After 6 years....

Fellow Cartographers,
I made my debut on this forum 6 years ago when I decided to take my hand drawn maps that I had used for my home-brew D&D games for years and make digital versions that I could manipulate and zoom in on for greater detail. I set out with the help of Arsheesh's tutorials to make the first digital incarnation of Tan'et, the world I had played in for almost 15 years. I worked long and hard and, when I was done, I was proud of what I had made and I thought I was done. I would never again have to make more maps.

Then tragedy struck. The computer that housed the ONLY copies I had of these GIMP files died and the hard drive failed. The GIMP files were lost (without a large amount of work and no small amount of money to try to recover information off the fragged drive) but I was able to retrieve the jpegs of the maps I had made from the posts on this forum. I had proudly shown my maps to you all and that, inadvertently, saved my work. For 6 years, I worked with just the uneditable jpegs, wanting to add things to them or change things I had made but being unable to. A few weeks ago, however, I reached the point where I needed to edit the maps and couldn't. So I began recreating, nearly from scratch, the maps I had painstakingly made 6 years ago. After much work and hair pulling, This is what I have made. Please enjoy.

And as I have been asked before to show the original hand drawn maps, here they are again. Things have changed a lot since 2002.
