Map Travel map from Venice to Rome - 17th century style

This was my entry for the August challenge. It maps a fictional journey through "real" 17th century Italy, from Venice to Rome and to the island of Elba.

And this is the ink version, before tinting:

As always, even though the map is done and there isn't anything I can do about it anymore, any kind of feedback or critique is more than welcome, as it will help with future maps. I'm very fond of this particular style and hope to develop it further.

    Thanks!

It's absolutely a superb map : I would like to see it for real and can't decide if I prefer the watercolor or just black/white version.
And of course, your calligraphy is top notch !
