September 2018 Challenge: Purgatorio
Hi all, I said a little thoughtlessly that I will be in, so I'm in
While tidying up my library, I bumped into The Divine Comedy and realized that I had never gone beyond Purgatorio but that game me an idea. I will try to make a map of Mount Purgatory as Dante imagined it, in a top-down view, which is probably not the easiest way to represent successive elevations, but I want to do it that way
Each part of the spiral represents a terrace, the first being the Ante-Purgatory. I have to add stairs between terraces. The Earthly paradise will be in the center on the green space.
It's not strictly a map of a paradise but certainly a stairway to Heaven !
My first doubt obviously concerns the elevation of the mountain. Is it visible or does it look like a hollow?

Some stairs (actually I hate stairs) and some work on the Earthly paradise... Hum, it is going very classic, I'll have to refrain myself from putting a big evil snake somewhere... Added Enoe and Lethe rivers meeting together (call the river police !)

I can't find the time to work more on this map and I am a bit stuck on it, so... some work on the border

The way you textured the font is very effective, and I love the feeling of movement in the river.

Second part of the labels and the title, I adjusted some shadows and added a little greenery on the island... and I almost missed the Hell's exit cave
