Link Braun: A Free 16th Century Urban Cartography Brush Set for Fantasy City Maps

Hi, y'all! Today I am excited to release Braun, my fourteenth free brush set for Photoshop and GIMP, and my second set focused on creating urban environments. This set is based on the incredible work of Georg Braun taken from Civitates orbis terrarum—easily one of the most significant volumes of antiquity featuring bird’s eye maps of over five hundred and forty Renaissance cities. I like the density in each of these symbols, and I think you will too, it adds a great texture to a piece.

As with all my brushes, these are distributed under a CC0 license, which means they’re free to use for personal or commercial work, no attribution required! Let me know what you think, and if you end up using Braun, I’d love to see what you made.

You can read more about Braun and download the set over on my blog.

    Thanks, I hope they inspire.

I wanted to do a few urban sets before I finished my goal of twelve sets a year, glad I managed to get this one out there—only one more left!
