I did a border inspired by yours for a card to someone and man oh man that deceptively simple and elegant border is much harder than it looks. Yours is really well done, but topping that is your land forms, the hills and the mountains are delightfully atmospheric.

Thanks! And yeh, took me a while to figure out dimensions for the first corner but once I'd done that the rest came pretty easy. Just visualising the overlap parts which I tend to be alright at.

I wouldn't recommend watercolor on plain printer paper.

The problem is that water causes the paper to swell.
And if you're painting a large area, the paper will buckle (washboard effect).

But you can try it on a blank sheet of paper first. Your paper might handle it.

Does watercolour work on plain printing paper? .

Eh, not so much. It'll work in that color will be applied to the paper, but it'll buckle and wrinkle in proportion to the amount of water used. It's an inexpensive experiment though; try it and see what happens. You could also stretch the paper, which will help. Thoroughly soak it, and while it's wet, tape it down to flat surface. Tape the entire periphery, like boarder. Then paint once it's dried, but still taped down.
