    Default Dec '18 / Feb '19 Lite Challenge: Fighting Pits of Aborsol

    Hi Folks,

    A gladiator fighting pit; enter at the bottom, fight your way to the top. First one through the exit wins their freedom. The rest...well they're still freed, after a fashion...

    Very rough sketch at the moment.

    Hi Folks,

    Another update. I fixed the error on the bottom left and have shaded, as best I can, the structure part. I think the structure is pretty much done unless any of you folk have some suggestions on how to improve it. I may add some random holes, just to spice things up!

    Working on the background now. Not much point having a fighting pit with nowhere for the punters to view it! Any suggestions on this part would be very helpful, as I've really no clue as to what I'm doing. This is far from my regular type of old-school dungeon map. Once I've got the background sorted I'll use the structure outline path to clip the background layers, I'm assuming that's possible?

    Anyhow, enjoy the work so far.

    Good start damonjynx, I love this type of isometric dungeons.

    The stairs (a) between the two bottom blocks suggests that these two blocks are separated, however, at (b) their bases are joined together?
    The stairs at (c) don't seem to go to the ground
    I am not a big fan of solid blocks going to the ground, it causes distant lines (seem) to join (d) if you see what I mean. Perhaps you could have blocks of a given depth, like we often see in this type of dungeon, having only the lower block goind to the ground?
    Anyway, it wa my two cents, good job so far and happy new year!

    Thanks for the input Tenia. I also have an issue with the top left stairs that I'm not sure how to fix. Re the stairs a&b) I'll make the foremost block a little smaller and extend the stairs that should show the gap. Re c) I knew there was an issue there and thanks to your comments, I know what is. The issue isn't the stairs, it's that the vertical columns are too long. I see what you mean re d) but I've know idea how to correct it!

    I think it would help to do a top-down lay-out.
    I only eye-balled it, but that lower platform needs to be shifted diagonally forward a lot.
    That should break the apparent connections at the base level.

    And for the other issue, is there a reason for having the platform profiles run all the way down?
    It might be easier to have the projecting squares taper back to the main platform profile.

    Also, you are missing shading on the rightmost face of the oval platform structure.
