The Smuggler's lair (Tavernier's tutorial)

The other day. I came across a tutorial by Guillaume Tavernier, which you surely know. It is a tutorial in French, but it is subtitled in English and you can find it here.

As I really like what this artist does, I decided to try to follow his technique ... It's not easy, the video goes pretty fast (5 hours of work summarized in 25 minutes) and we see quickly the difference between amateurism and the professional, but I had a lot of fun to discover some tips that will be very useful. Incidentally, I also found a very useful brush, which I keep carefully.

I took me a lot more time than him to get to a result that is far from the master, but after all, the whole point isn't it to learn?

In any case, I can only advise you to take a little time and discover his method of work. In the meantime, here is the result of mine ... Let's say the good news is that there is still room for improvement

Oh, that is GREAT. Gorgeous colors and the light sources are amazing. I am in awe, and this goes right into my inspiration folder.

You are really hard with yourself ! The only differences for me are a slightly vivider color palette for your image and less assured strokes but besides those tiny differences, you are pretty close to the quality of Guillaume's work ! What you have really well captured IMO is the lighting technique. A fabulous map and I cannot wait to see more ! You certainly know this one but let's post it anyways, his fortified farm, not really tutorial but process. Almost one and a half hour of coloring without comments.

Jesus, man. It just blows me away how fast you improve. Which is not to say your previous maps haven't been good, because they all are, but you are progressing so rapidly and each is just better and better than the last! This is going straight to my inspiration folder and I'll be checking out that tutorial. The colors are just perfect. This is easily one of the prettiest dungeon maps I've seen. Love it!!!
