Artist Block

I seem to be suffering from artists block (writers block for artists) and find that I'm looking for ideas for a town to draw; or a city, or a hamlet, or anything in between.

What type of buildings would you like to see?

Any particular buildings to include or focus on?

Any particular layouts for roadways?

A crossroads village? Port town?

Let me know. I'm eager to hear from you as I have artists block.

When I read your thread title, I thought you were making a neighbourhood block inhabited by artists. So, since you're looking for ideas, why not try that

What about a Venice-like city, where half the streets are really canals? Lagoon optional.

The village of a fantasy ninja clan. Everything is meant to train their population, with traps to avoid in the streets, odd methods to get between buildings (wooden planks, ropes, edges close enough to jump), maybe a couple of dangerous animals roaming loose, posts for balancing atop, etc. Way over the top (as opposed to a real ninja village, which would look as inconspicuous as possible).

Thanks Wingshaw and Diamond and rdanhenry! Excellent Ideas. You've got my brain unblocked and the pens liquid flowing once again! I'm picturing a venice like city where it's a city of romance flooded with street artists galore by day and controlled by a clan of shadow ninjas by night. I super appreciate the replies!
