Imho, what makes you a great cartographer is that every time I look at one of your map, I travel.
There is some kind of melancholy that drags me in, like some place where I used to wander in another time/life.

Maybe it's the intention or feeling carrying through, as I imagine loads of scenarios and places while I'm working on these.
Stuck at a desk, but wanting to wander through other places...

Seriously though, I already said it was outstanding as usual, but fol2dol nailed it. There is always something magical about J's maps, and I always look forward to seeing them.

I've been working on more lower perspective pieces lately.
I just finished some work that was lower, almost side view.

From what I understand, you make this kind of map to relax from the other illustrations you draw for commissions?... I don't know what to say except that you really have an incredible talent!!!
As I said elsewhere, this illustration is really beautiful ! Bravo and thank you for sharing it with us!

Yeah, sort of. There is a sort of freedom in looking out over an expanse of land.
Somehow it just feels relaxing to me.
Until I turn it into a full size piece with all the bits and details....
