    Map The Cragspers

Just finished this one last night. Took a few days to create.
It started life as some training working on value sketching, then grew.
The value sketches are done rather small, 1.5 to 2 inches.
Just 6 shades of grey. No true black or white.

Then it grew into a perspective maps and then got itself tied up in Nhyn.
Mainly cus it reminded me of a part of the Nor-Medul map.
So off I went. There are things I like and things I don't.
If I had the time, I would have changed some things, but I don't.
I'm already getting swamped, so it's off to work.

Hope you all have a great week. Cheers, J

One of these days, you'll post a map that doesn't make me droll. Of course, hell will have frozen over as well. Outstanding, as usual.

Imho, what makes you a great cartographer is that every time I look at one of your map, I travel.
There is some kind of melancholy that drags me in, like some place where I used to wander in another time/life.

Oh yeah, I can just imagine that you're "mundane" maps are just absolutely terrible.

    THAT'S his secret guys !

I bet he has hundreds maps on his hard drive that if we see, we'll be like "Hey man, fine map, i like the grass" kinda thing

Jokes aside. Beautifly rendered scenery and I love what fol2dol said. Totaly agree.

Maybe, except I'd still be like "Man, why can't I get my grass to look that good." He he.

Seriously though, I already said it was outstanding as usual, but fol2dol nailed it. There is always something magical about J's maps, and I always look forward to seeing them.

Geez, this is an awesome piece! Only just discovered it, and I think it already claimed a slot in my 2019 top 5!

    Gorgeous work!!

With this one, I just have the feeling you invite us in your map. We're usually from a further, higher point of view, but this one is so terribly immersive. A window to Nhyn.
I'll change the way I name you from J. to G. And. you. know. why.

From what I understand, you make this kind of map to relax from the other illustrations you draw for commissions?... I don't know what to say except that you really have an incredible talent!!!
As I said elsewhere, this illustration is really beautiful ! Bravo and thank you for sharing it with us!
