Yeah, client is king, right? Also, on filling in the white spaces: it's without a doubt the most tedious part of the mapping business, but getting it right is crucial if you want your map to have "character" (or "panache", as the French would say).

Here's another update! Filled in those nasty white spaces with a splotch of untamed taiga and some windswept arctic plains, and added a nice little parchment background to top it all off. This is going pretty smoothly, if I say so myself.

As you can see, I added colour throughout the map: shades of blue for the oceans, a light teal for the sky, and a whole set of colours for the different climate zones of the landmasses. I also began work in the shading department, in two distinct phases:
    1. the rough outlines, both in the seas and on the landmasses (already giving the different features a bit of definition); and
    2. the detailed shading, which at this stage is only just begon in the southern reaches of the map.

Still a ways to go, but I'm having fun and it's progressing nicely, so I don't complain!

If only I had known it was that easy to get stuff done around here! The colour really makes the map start to pop.

    Geez, thanks guys!

below you'll find another incremental update. The deciduous forests are all there and shaded now, and I'm slowly creeping northward with the mountain shading. I also shaded the nameless island in the Silent Waters, as well as the Fractured Isles. So this is slowly nearing completion here!

You'll notice the coniferous forests (the taiga) are all gone now, because the client remembered the tundra being way larger, but some other splotches of pine will appear in a future update

This is coming along really well. Definitely liking the coloring and shading work. Gives everything a solid appearance, and makes the various climates easy to see.
