I've got the basics in, mountains, rivers, roads. Will look at trees and maybe buildings, will also need to think of a name.. I should probably think up a back story to make populating the island with buildings easier / cohesive.
July/Aug '19 Lite Challenge: Crystal Island
Hi Everyone,
I'm new here...I've not made many maps but thought what better way to practice and join the community than to join in a lite challenge.
Deadlines seem to have a good effect on forcing me to finish things.
Still very new to all this so feel free to critique with no sugar coating... I don't take sugar with my coffee and I don't particularly enjoy it in critiques either.

I'm not sure that my geography makes much sense, but it's been fun.
@vanScoota I like them too, but they much like all the other line work I think feels slightly sloppy, I've noticed that I can make much nicer marks with a pencil or pen than in Photoshop.

I went through a couple different things trying with buildings and farm details, but didn't like the scaling compared to the map size. So ended up removing them and just made town dots.
It still feels a little bare to me, so thinking of adding some pull outs for specific details.

Welcome to the Challenge Pomb! I agree with the others, your mountains are great. The one thing I would critique is I am not a fan of the shoreline, it seems to wide or needs something else like lines or texture.
