Thread: Bog Marsh - Franck's first map!

    Map Franck Fernweh's maps

I decided to dive head-first into making a Battle Map for my friend's D&D campaign. I'm working on creating all my maps via pen, paper, and watercolor. So here are a few process shots! I tiled two pages together to create the finished 18"x24" map.

    Next step, Photoshop cleanup!

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to blend/merge the two pages together to make a seamless map?

Really good job there, and while I'm here : welcome to the Guild ! It's always a pleasure to see more watercolor, and I see you really have an interesting approach with it

Oh wow, I like that style a lot. Reminds me a bit of those japanese drawings. :-o

About photoshop cleanup... I mean you can resize both parts so they fit together well. And then just play around with the overlay settings of the upper map layer...

I've been sitting on these progress images while I work on other projects, but thought it was time to share.

I created a few additional variations of the same Bog Marsh. Here's a zoomed in bit of the first Bog:

And my favorite, dead marshes. Painting 100+ little dead people was exhausting. And still gives me nightmares.

I ended up finding a decent workaround to merge the two large paintings (created on two sheets of paper) in Photoshop; Edit > Auto-Align Layers > Auto. I'm sure there were some cleaner, less destructive ways to merge the art, but I feel like it worked pretty seamlessly (pardon the pun!).

Thanks for the suggestions, encouragement, and warm welcome to the Guild! I'm looking forward to sharing more art with y'all.

I appreciate the work put in on that "dead marshes" version, but the one with the gators is my favorite.
