Post August 2019 Challenge: The Soggy Bottom Bar

One of my favorite Challenges, some of my best maps have come out of these. I have so much going on, I almost didn't get started..

This is the list I generated, I am drawn to # 10.

This is a first look at the Soggy Bottom Bar. A lot more to do. Almost everything in here is mapping elements I created from scratch.

It is really cool that you created all those items. I like it.

On feedback, hmm, I would say, your wall is a lovely texture, but the highlight of where you have your natural light hitting the slope of it is too intense, I would make it a bit more subtle to keep the attention on the lovely texture of the wall instead of the bleached highlight. Hope that makes sense. Anyway. It is a good composition of item placement, something I myself sometimes struggle with, so good job.

    Cheers,
    Omri

Thanks Omri. That unfortunately is a shortcoming of DundJinni. The "Raise Walls" and "Shadows" effects do give the walls the illusion of height, but it is a bit mechanical looking and the only options are on and off. On wider stone walls it looks better, but on thinner wood walls it is more noticeable. What DJ excels at is placing, moving, stacking & resizing objects.
This is just a quick start, the water is temporary, a lot more to textures & effects to add and I have to build the stormy ocean and island of shipwrecks.

Ah, okay I see. I've not used that program before, so I was a bit in the dark with its pros and cons. I've mostly spent my time in Gimp. Thanks for the info.

I added the shadows to the objects, and the start of the shipwrecks.
Next Photoshop to get better water and the big shipwrecks.

I love the concept! Are all of the boats going to be shipwrecks? At first I thought some of them were boats that tied up at the bar. I think adding a bit of a wrap-around dock for patrons would be fun. I'm glad you were able to participate this month; I always like seeing your maps.

Thanks, I like that Idea, but don't think I will have time to do that.

Finished. The Soggy Bottom Bar sits on an island of shipwrecks in a stormy sea with 3 manta rays swimming nearby.
