Thread: Oct/Nov '19 Lite Challenge: Seasons in Adventure

Default Oct/Nov '19 Lite Challenge: Seasons in Adventure

    Hello Friends.

Today I started working on this bookmark, featuring my Kisachik braving a snowy winter land. I may have dreamed it, but I think someone said on the forum they wished to see more unfinished work in progress steps, so here's a very early work in progress.

The idea behind this illustration is to show the path that Kisachik is taking on an adventure that you can join and follow along. We don't know yet where this path is going, but what's more exciting than exploration and discovery? Maybe we'll find some interesting rocks. Maybe we'll find trouble. No adventure is too small nor too daunting!

I find snow difficult to illustrate, so that's an extra challenge as well. But artists always go outside of their comfort zone anyway, otherwise we'd hate our art and die of boredom.

Welcome to the Challenge! This looks like it will be fun!

Some people just post the final map, but it is more interesting when people can follow your WIP as it develops.

And for those who lack imagination, let's ask my Kisachik about this discovery:

This is taking a while and I'm starting to doubt my artwork belongs on this forum when I look at other entries. I don't know if it's the snow, or the loose, sketchy and at the same painterly style I'm working in. What do you guys think? Should I try something that looks more like a proper map without goofy stories and adventures?

It does make me happy to create it, but it also makes me happy to share with people who might like it. I believe the more unique your artwork is, the smaller your audience. So maybe for here I should be sharing more proper map-looking stuff? Or are we limited to just one challenge entry?
