This is my 5th 3d map for my sandboxed roleplay campaign, of varoius places in the Kingdom of Ryland (river land), I build the whole area down to street level with enough detail to let my players know whats there but space to add to from the story. This meens drawing all the houses, yards, land and trades etc as needed (i dont like prefab assest as I want a consitant look and feel, and not something that looks like others work. It can be alot of work, but my players enjoy the experiance.

This is then projected onto the game table from a ceiling prjector, and i can Zoom, pan and even orbit around as the players move around, i even zoom right out for general player locating when they split up, and back to street level when things get narsty.

I just sent a link of this article to my DM and while she thinks the map is amazing, she does not want me to expect anything near this for our next game!

Seriously though, this is a superb creation and the hard work clearly shows.

Fascinating - what software did you use for the 3d maps?

Hi. I use quite a bit. Autocad and 3dsmax plus photoshop to draw the props. Then unity3d to place them on a stage but I also now write code to aid placement, its crude code no error trapping but helps with the workflow, so will write more

Cool set up and a really nice castle, but one issue does appear to me:

    |
    |
The West Way ----- The Great East Road
    |
    |
    North Quarter
    The North Parse
Either these names aren't relative to the city or your compass points are out of order.
