I also agree that the border is fantastic!

Amazing how a border can change a map ! It’s looking good and has a strong character ! I love the details of the cities !
Thanks ! I struggle a bit with both (frame and some of the cities). I want the cities to have a common look for each culture/country, don't know if it's a success.

    I love it.
There's so much cool stuff going on in this piece.
Since it's a wip, I'll say two bits....
Some text is getting lost in land details.
Other is just an opinion.. the vertical lines in the creature circles, it works with some.
but it doesn't work as well on others.
The dragon and rat. Not sure if you reverse the vert lines, like flip horizontal. Idk.
Just something that felt off, in a super cool piece of work.
    I'm digging this one.
Thanks a lot, John ! Yeah, I was aware of the problem with the labels.
What do you think of the new version?

    By Marc
It's really pleasing to see it take shape.
The cities are surprisingly detailed for their scale, and the creatures are an interesting addition to the map. Very good job !
Thanks a lot, Marc ! The difficult thing with cities is the classic balance between : not enough/too much details...

    Thanks a lot, Bogie !

So, after a bad mistake (erasing the drawings for scale & compass) that I corrected (the compass was better in the first version, probably), here's my work of the day.
Still have a much to do (some shading, title, labels, maybe color and additional drawings...).

What do you think of the coastal waves?

And... I changed my mind again. I think coastal rings are probably better. I hope you'll agree.

I think I will redo some labels in Inkscape when I got the shadings & seas finished...

With the risk of being inappropriate, I must say that mermaid is... Um. very easy on the eyes and whatnot

In all seriousness, though, great work all around on this. I love these illustrations, and you know I always love me some archipelagos!

Who knows? We are all supposed to hear the sirens calling us, aren't we ?

Nothing inappropriate here, Lady Kell . And thanks for the kind words.

So, some more. I may translate the texts about each country (if I find back my courage).
Si des francophones voient des fautes de frappes ou autres... merci d'avance de me le signaler.

Still some shading on the lands to do, but it starts to look like a finished map, I suppose.

Thanks a lot, for the kind words and the check .

The english version (might contain errors or bad english...). Not sure the additional shading on the lands is really visible.

It's really beautiful work, with great ideas about folklore and the world. From the beginning, your map reminds me of a comic book that also takes place in a world entirely made of archipelagos. No matter how hard I look, I can't find the title (it's old, it was three volumes and the series was interrupted there). In any case, your map is very beautiful
