Thread: High Shelter's Infamy

  1. #1

    Default High Shelter's Infamy

Once a proud stronghold destined to keep its watch over the northern border of the kingdom, High Shelter fell into the greedy hands of a rogue wizard and his servants.
Now overrun by brigands, the place is known to serve a much darker purpose.
Vast tunnels have been dug beneath the catacombs, and a strange cult is said to roam the surrounding villages in search of slaves.
As a deserter from the wizard's personal guard managed to escape with a few miners, he told tales of ancient treasures hidden under the hills, in a bottomless chasm where a great wyrm dwells. From their testimony, the royal college of cartography was tasked to map High Shelter's Infamy, in the hope of helping anyone brave enough to venture beyond its ancient gates...

This was also my entry for the Jan/Feb '20 Lite Challenge.

Made with Corel Painter 12 and Inkscape for the labels.

EDIT: Updated version of the map uploaded on 12/03/2020 and featuring more natural colors.

Awww, so beautiful! This map feels like a story in itself. I also like how you combined the inside and outside view.

The different rooms are easy to recognize even without the legend.

There's one little typo: Dining room, not Dinning room.

It's so multidimensional! It makes me want to live underground… It's grand!

Gorgeous map. Beautiful enough to be straight out of an ancient historical tome.

Very interesting! I have a bit of trouble getting the heights worked out in my head but that is a very complex and well displayed 'dungeon'. Really cool!

Fantastic perspective, extremely well-crafted building plan with an impressive perspective, great texture work and a killer border - what a spectacular piece!
I'm really falling head over heels in love with your work, I hope you keep it coming.

Thank you ! Indeed, there's room for improvement. I had to rethink some parts halfway through the linework and might have missed some inconsistencies in the heights. The way some hallways are overlapping may look a bit confusing when in the same colour area.

Great work, Marc! The lineart is flawless and your use of colors a candy for the eyes.
