Agree with TimetoDraw about the black glow being a little blurry. I'm sure you might have this lined up already, but a light parchment texture could look really good and compliment the "T"-style text.

omg!!! I just realized what this is a map of! I did one similar... sort of... about a year or two ago... but I was mapping a song. Anyway... I like the idea, especially how half of the lair is gold

Thanks everyone! I've made a lot of progress over the past couple days and I think I'm done. I've fixed many things in the meantime so… I hope you like it.

The text is in Runes (obviously, right? ), but it's just English in disguise – it's a poem I wrote which explains why it doesn't look like the Lonely Mountain described in Tolkien's books. It reads:

ÞE LONELY MOUNTAIN AND SMAUGS LAIR

Loŋ before þe stories were told
Little was known of what lied yonder
And so þe legends of old
Held but few truþs for all to remember
Before your eyes is one mistruþ
Such as stood up in þe worlds youþ

I can still mostly read Tolkien's runes... ya forgot to add the dots in between! I think that was canon, anyway, and not just something me and my childhood best friend did when exchanging encoded rune messages. I have a high nostalgia factor associated with runes. I enjoy the border decor!

PS: this map is obviously misdocumented and drawn by someone who did not know much about the dragon's peak; the reason it still has Tolkien-related labels is that they were added later on, like the poem around it – like a disclaimer. ^^
