Default What's the English word for the angle from a vertical line on the map ?

In some map projections, the vertical line is not always facing north (e.g. conic projections). So an angle from some object to the vertical line on that map would not be an azimuth.
In French we call this angle on the map "Gisement". But is there an English equivalent? I searched for it on the web for quite a while and couldn't find anything.

If my explanation was not clear don't hesitate to tell me.

    Thanks

Sounds like you are looking for the word "bearing"? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bearing_(navigation)

    Affirmative.
When we’ve made topography training in french army with americans soldiers as guests, our interpreter translated gisement as bearing.
