Hello everyone, I've been stalking this site for awhile now and finally thought I should join. So far I've only made a couple of maps, none that are too great, one on Gimp and others on graph paper. I have a particularly hard time with embellishments, but that's where practice probably comes in right. I am excited to learn more about cartography here and grow my skills!

Every art is about practicing a ton. Copy the art you love (maybe don't post it) to figure out how the hand gestures work to create it and then repeat from memory and add your own style. Ask questions. Draw 200 maps. I've learned far more from just drawing a crapload of maps than I ever have from lurking to be honest, so yeah, practise definitely comes in, and asking specific questions when you're stuck.

Hello I am new as well. I am learning how to do maps with a computer. I have done plenty with pen and paper. Have fun.

Thank you. It is all my art. Not quite every map I've ever made (some I haven't released yet, some I'm not allowed to release yet) but a pretty good spread of my work over the last 7 years. Whew. x_x
