Hi all, my first contribution here! In our funky spacefaring D&D game, planetary systems are organised like this in "clusters". Each cluster has one or more gateways that link it to other clusters, ancient structures that allow you to traverse the vast distances around the Galaxy instantaneously. For plot reasons, the core of the universe is falling apart- hence the darkness in that region and the strange glow from the core. This was all painted in Photoshop.

I like it, for the most part, but that transparent yellow isn't so easy on the eyes, compared to the red and pink. It looks digitized anyway. I like the central region where it's disintegrating into darkness.
