Coming along really nicely with the addition of colour and shading.

    Thanks QED!

Here's another shading update, with one extra ridge shaded and a ton of tiny details in between. Ooh, and the first two cities are there! Not sure if I'll keep 'em in their current form, but it's nice to have something already.

I also deselected the inking layers just to see how that would look, and discovered that this might almost work as a colour-and-shading-only map too! Almost, but not quite yet—I feel it's still a bit too fuzzy around the edges.

You'll notice I dropped in a frame. The reason for that is twofold. First because I had to do one eventually, so why not do it now, and second because I hated the fact that a bit of the continent was cut off by the left edge of the map! If this map is indeed showing all of the Qeshtari Empire as the title of this thread claims (I have no idea what "Qeshtari" is but I'll make something up once we get to labelling), I can hardly leave off this obvious corner of the continent. So I fixed it by having it overlap with the frame hopefully in an elegant way... I love these personal maps for all the experimenting I get to do with them!

I’m falling in love with this map.. I love the long shadows on the cities, Maybe you could try them on the mountains as well?

I could, and I guess I should! ! I have done some tests but nothing that looks really decent atm. Will keep you posted!

Here's another incremental update, with two hours of additional shading. I'm going into detail so it's slow (but interesting) going!

Okay, all of the terrain is done now, and so is the skycraft!

Next up is a whole slew of tiny city icons (growing tinier the closer they get to the horizon) and a bunch of roads interconnecting them.

I also added a latlon grid over the ocean, but I'm not sure it fits the style of the map. What do you guys think?

I was just wondering if you were going to put in roads or not but seems you have that covered!

    Those colors, just WOW!

The grid fits very well, it gives a sense of direction to the map. Overall I think it's vague enough to not disturb the surrounding geographical beauty.

This is too good, you never disappoint, Caenwyr.

Thanks guys! Too much praise for a half-finished map but I'll take it!

Here's the next update, with 30-ish isometric town icons on it! Still only halfway through though... But I'm having a ton of fun drawing those tiny buildings!

Wow, the colouring, shadowing and distortion are playing well together here! I do like it, congrats!

Okay! Exactly two months since I last posted here, but better late than never I suppose .

Spent the last two hours or so adding tiny city icons all over the place, and I think I'm now finished, phew!
