Wip Aug/Sept '20 Lite Challenge: Van Ruiyters Land

    Hello all!

I'm a bit late to the party, but I'm still joining in. Hoping to be able to finish it on time!

I hope my map fits the description of the challenge. It will not show the actual cataclysm, but the events leading up to it. It will be an 18th century Admiralty chart of an expedition to an unknown island. Along with the map there will be several log entries that tell the story about how this unfortunate expedition came to its end, and set in motion something that can not be stopped.

The map is quite large, so some zooming in may be required. Detailing has started in the top right corner.

Oh I should probably add that the style is heavily inspired by the maps by the actual M. Flinders and his Terra Australis and Van Diemen's Land maps.

I love it! I really hope to see it finished by the end of the challenge as well. What cursive font is that by the way?

I recognised Pica but Schooner is a must! Thanks!

I heartily hope you finish in time. This map is simply glorious! Plus, I have always been a huge fan of nautical stories and adventures, and this piques my interest like you cannot know. Please finish this! Even if you don't get it all in in the timeframe for the lite challenge, definitely keep showing us updates for how it comes along!

We too rarely see a nautical chart in my opinion, and this one looks perfectly immersive. 'love the idea of this compass, and those notes are just perfect

    Hello all,

A new WIP. Mostly messed around with how i wanted to do the log entries and added some details. Next step would be to continue the depth markings, wind, and more descriptive texts.

As for the log entries, they tell a story. Again, start in the top right and follow the coast.
