I grabbed a parchment from https://pixabay.com/photos/paper-old...hment-1074131/ just to see how it looks.

This time I used 80% opacity and added a bit of a blur.

And here's one that hasn't faded over time:

Nice! It looks good against the parchment. I like the colours of the faded version.

Thanks ChickPea. It's been an interesting exercise. I did the geometry stuff in Inkscape then I separated it out into 5 different masks. These were then applied to different colour/texture combos in GIMP and stacked up B-G-R-B-R-G. There are a few small 'gaps' in the fills that I decided to leave because I think they give it more of a hand painted impression. I may add to this with some other things. I'm posting the masks in here if someone wants to build their own up.

I agree with ChickPea & Kier, the faded one looks great on the parchment.

I've decided to add a cartouche to the collection, plus the various elements will be available.

I used Inkscape to trace over a picture of a cherub I found online. The rest of the things I did by hand using Inkscape. I'm really getting to know the tools and how they work. This needs tidying up a bit but this should illustrate where I'm going with it.

    Thanks Joel.

I've added a ribbon banner to the cartouche. I'll give it some colour in GIMP. Then I'll try to put these things together on the same page, as a demo of sorts.
