Nov/Dec 2020 Challenge: The Town of Hérisson

Welcome to the town of Hérisson! A town where you can find a castle ruin, a meandering river and countless of small alleyways with old buildings. This place breathes history and maybe you’ll find some legends around a corner as well.

Antoine gave me a few options to choose from and a map of his hometown looked like a challenge. I’ve not done a real world city map as it is daunting to get everything right but here I am trying it anyway.

This is a really rude sketch. I looked for an interesting perspective. This time it being the street where Antoine lives looking out over the rest of the town. I started this a bit late but I’ll try my best to finish it on time!

It has been a long while since I posted here. It feels good to be back.

A Hedgehog is so cool to incorporate in a map. The one who thought of that name for a town is brilliant and deserves a medal.

I did my second sketch of the map and it’s slowly coming together. I don’t have much time on my hands lately so it’s early morning and late night sketching. I really want to finish this in time!

In the map I want to draw all the awesome roofs and little towers this town has to offer, I’m not sure how to approach that yet because it’s a perspective nightmare and every time I start I realize I can’t wing this. All the major landmarks will get a ribbon with a name on there and I am planning to do something with a wax seal and a compass.. somewhere.. Man, I want this to be good since it is for the Antoine himself. Back to drawing!
