Map The Old Wind Settlement (Commission)

    Hi Everyone

This is a commission piece and will feature in a runequest adventure coming later this year. Unlike most of my pieces this one is finished in black and white as that was what the client preferred. The shading was achieved with black watercolour paint.

The map is done using all physical materials as outlined below
    - A4, 200gsm watercolour paper
    - Dip pen with Sepia Windsor & newton calligraphy ink
    - Pebeo studio watercolour paints

That is a brilliant idea to use the tips of the banner labels to indicate what they belong to! And the gray wash is a great look. I'd love to see more from you like this - don't get me wrong, I love color maps, but I also love the simultaneous complexity and simplicity of this one too.

Awww yeah, the gray-scale shadowing does this one much justice, you have such a way with perspective of buildings.

Those gusty illustrations are just the right touch, Will. Congrats on getting more commissions, I'd like to have a chat with you about how you land those.

Thanks Diamond, I wasn't quite sure how the monochrome look would turn out as I've only used it once before on a much smaller piece but it ended up being really good.

Thanks Ian, both my recent commissions found me actually. This one came in through Instagram and Milatum came in through the website.

This made me immediately click over to your website to stalk everything else you've made. It looks great and I actually really like the black and white!

You really have a way with perspective. I love how soft and precise at the same time your shading is, if that makes any sense. The banners are just a superb touch as well! Always enjoy seeing your work, please keep it coming.
