Sept/Oct '23 Lite Challenge: The Interdisciplinary Studies Tepui

Off the coast of a far-off land lies an out-of place island that is probably the remains of some vast ancient plateau. At the heart of the island stands a magnificent tepui, covered in greenery with some odd spiky bits at the top. The island is largely unpopulated except for two settlements that cater to the needs of the vast hordes of pilgrims who continually venture inland. Atop that tepui (among the spiky bits) is a pair of ancient temples: The Temple of Mind and the Temple of Body. The few pilgrims who manage to make it all the way to the temples and return are radically changed by the experience, and their tales are unbelievable. What happens to the rest of the pilgrims is a little fuzzy, but that doesn't stop new ones arriving every week.
