Hi, me and my son love pirate books and stuff related to pirates and would love to make for my son a treasure map, kinda studying on the go when it comes to cartography as I do travel a lot, wonder of suggested materials that may look good for such project, I think to make only pen and pencil would been too cheap or look cheap as it should be something memorable as a gift, so Im considering material like wood or leather, but Im opened to any other material, just suggest, I dont want the cost to be too much, but willing to spend some bucks on tools that wont be an issue if the result would look better than on paper, considering the media usage I can imagine maybe acrylic markers on wood or textile, no idea....Im also open to learn new skills and techniques.
